The Orbs Universe
The Orbs Proof-of-Stake (PoS) ecosystem is the backbone of the Orbs network and the Universe that is being created. This ecosystem serves as the foundation for the security and operation of the network, enabling an optimal platform for decentralized applications.
The Orbs Universe is centered around three core roles – Validators, Guardians and Delegators.
Roles and balance of power
Guardians
Guardians maintain the security of the network and uphold its long term vision. They have wide representation of the ecosystem, by delegated stake and can vote out Validators that do not follow the protocol.
Validators
Validators operate the Orbs network. They align with the network interests by ensuring honest operation and maintaining security and availability. Based on the Validators own stake.
Delegators
Delegators are token holders who assign their voting weight (stake) to Guardians, empowering them to maintain security and uphold the long term vision of the ecosystem.
Apps and virtual chains
Each app using Orbs deploys its own virtual chain which provides performance and isolation. A virtual chain deployment requires paying a monthly fee that is distributed among the Validators.
Economic Incentives
Operation reward – Validators
Rewards for operating, maintaining and securing the network. They are rewarded in proportion to their stake alongside usage fees paid by the applications.
Validator Introduction Program awards an additional fixed reward to Validators during to encourage early network growth.
Participation reward – Delegators and Guardians
Delegators empower Guardians by delegating their stake to a Guardian they trust.
Token holders that delegate to an active Guardian are rewarded in proportion to their stake.
Guardians Excellence Program
The top-ranking Guardians are rewarded as part of the Guardians Excellence Program.
The Guardians Excellence Program reward is in proportion to the Guardian’s stake and to the stake that has been delegated to her.
